Real estate agent: The job can be a killer

To those not in the industry,
real estate agents

may appear to have easy jobs. They ride around showing fabulous
houses, work a flexible schedule and sometimes land big commission
checks.

But the reality is that real estate agents have a much harder
job than we can imagine. Uncertainty about their income, a lack of
benefits, a decline in housing values and the risks associated with
meeting strangers in vacant homes can make real estate a stressful
and dangerous occupation.

High stress environment

For starters, working strictly on commissions is stressful
enough. Paul Wyman, owner of the Wyman Group real estate firm in
Howard County, Ind., and a regional vice president of the National
Association of Realtors, says agents don?t have a ?guaranteed
paycheck? every Friday. And most don?t earn a dime until a sale
closes. There can be a lot of money riding on each transaction, he
says.

?You end up counting on a deal and if it falls apart for any
reason, it can cause a lot of stress for the family,? says
Wyman.

Brad Knapp, senior vice president of Henkle Scheuler Realtors in
Lebanon, Ohio, says whether they?re working independently or for a
large firm, agents often act as their own small business. While
that can have some perks, it often has downsides like a lack of
health insurance, sick time or paid vacation. For most agents, a
lot is riding on every sale, he says.

The job is so stressful, in fact, that
Business Insider reported

that ?real estate sellers are 1.38 times more likely to commit
suicide than average.?

Home prices vs. commissions

Furthermore, the average median income for
Realtors

has trended downward in recent years, falling from $52,200 in 2002
to $34,100 in 2010, according to the National Association of
Realtors. However, the NAR did report that the median income for
Realtors increased $800 from 2010 to 2011.

Agent commissions vary by region and firm, but typically average
5 percent to 6 percent nationwide, according to the NAR. A typical
agent may only sell a half dozen properties per year.

?I don?t think the general public appreciates the fact that real
estate agents will show so many homes and do so much work but don?t
get paid until they?re at the closing table,? says Knapp.

Stresses exacerbated in down housing market

Agents have been hit especially hard by the recent housing
downturn. Since commissions are based on a percentage of the sales
price, commissions decline when home prices decline. According to
the latest numbers from the
SP/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices

, home prices have fallen approximately 34 percent from their 2006
peak.

The rapidly changing real estate market can also create a
disconnect between some sellers, homebuyers and agents, says Wyman.
Many sellers have unrealistically high expectations when it comes
to the price they can realistically get for their homes. Wyman says
agents today have to spend more time ?educating? sellers on the
real value of their home.

?There are sellers out there that think their house is the
exception and buyers have been conditioned to give lowball offers.
It?s a challenging market and can cause real stress,? says
Wyman.

Furthermore, Wyman says because many agents have their own real
estate investments, either in flips or rental properties, the
downturn has been especially hard.

In past years, real estate agents have entered and exited the
profession as the housing market fluctuates. But in the past few
years, Wyman says the housing market has fallen faster than agents
are leaving the industry.

?There has been increased competition because there are just
more Realtors and fewer sales,? says Wyman.

Job can have dangers

In addition to purely being a stressful occupation, working in
real estate can also be quite dangerous. Agents must often meet
strangers alone in vacant houses and show properties in all types
of neighborhoods.

Criminals have posed as would-be buyers to lure unsuspecting
agents into vacant homes and have committed theft, robbery, assault
and rape. Some have even been murdered. According to the Bureau of
Labor Statistics, 63 people employed in real-estate-related fields
(this includes property management and maintenance personnel) died
on the job in 2010. Of those deaths, 23 were murders.

Safety has become such an important issue in recent years that
the NAR has outlined tips and guides to help Realtors stay safe.
The 2011 Realtor Safety Report examined a year?s worth of attacks
on Realtors, and the REALTOR Safety program features a five-step
plan for Realtors to stay safe while conducting open houses.

While the chances of being victimized are still relatively small,
it can add an element of stress every time an agent meets with a
new potential buyer.

?You have to constantly be aware of the potential for danger.
There?s an added element of stress and potential danger when they
get a call to meet someone at a vacant house in a questionable
neighborhood,? says Knapp.

Online Business Diversification Part Three | David Wood's MLM ...

Online Business DiversificationClick Here For Part Two.

People WILL Pay You For Almost Anything?

Service based businesses aren?t necessarily hands free; but the profits can be completely passive.

I really never liked the idea of a service based businesses. I always knew there was potential for huge profits; but I didn?t want the hassle of dealing with clients.

But that?s just me. I?m this ultra Internet guy who?s?obsessed?with automation. One of the?core reasons?why I ventured into online marketing was?not having to deal with customers. I wanted to build a business where I could leverage technology in a way that people would buy my stuff without me ever communicating with them personally.

That?s why I don?t like services. But without a shadow of doubt; services are the easiest way to start making a living online and an excellent way to diversify your business. If you can do something that individuals or companies want and or need; you can charge them for it! Genius right? (LOL)

?And eventually you can outsource the entire business to the point where you?re only ?checking in? once a month.

Here?s a quick list of online marketing services that anyone with half a brain could easily provide:

  1. Social Media
  2. SEO
  3. SEM
  4. Facebook Marketing
  5. Pinterest Marketing
  6. Twitter Marketing
  7. Web Design
  8. Consulting
  9. Graphic Design
  10. WordPress Services

The list goes on, and the service doesn?t have to be Internet Marketing based at all. Checkout some of the services individuals are selling on?Fiverr. There?s some really weird shit on there.

There are even services that charge people to send SHIT! Checkout ShitSenders.com, for less than the sum of $35 they will send a gallon or GORILLA shit to the person of your choosing. But let?s be real; who wants to start a shit sending business?

You don?t even need to know anything about the services you?re providing. You just need to hire someone who does or outsource the work entirely. I have a friend who runs a link building service.

For between $500 and $2000 per month; he?ll rank your site at the top of the search engines. He started small, but now runs a high end link?building?service. The cool part is they are subscription payments. Each client that signs up automatically pays him between $500 and $2000 per month.

As soon as orders come in his team do the work, his manager pays everyone and he?s left with MOST of the profits. Services are limitless and can be built to near total automation. A great way to diversify your online business, but services require a time commitment.

Ebooks, We All Know This One Right?

When I hear ebooks I think of the inception of Internet Marketers.

Ebooks are sort of what started the Internet Marketing craze. Normal people were getting rich selling Ebooks on the Internet. In fact people were making MILLIONS selling Ebooks on damn EBAY!

It was a great time for Internet Marketers, the money was passive and completely hands free?Until of course Ebay made it mandatory to send every Ebook on a blank disk to all customers.

While Ebay is no longer feasible;?Amazon is here?and has quickly become the powerhouse of digital publishing.

Not too long ago, Amazon released its Direct Publishing Platform for Kindle.

Allowing anyone to rapidly self-publish their own books onto the Kindle marketplace. If you don?t know, Kindles are those little Ebook readers being constantly promoted on TV.

They?re supposed to be the ?book killers? with more Amazon Kindle sales than physical last year. Don?t quote me on that statistic; I believe it?s correct. The fact is digital books are becoming a lot more attractive as more and more people buy Kindles, smart phones and tablets.

The Kindle Direct Publishing platform allows you to self-publish your own books on the?Amazon Kindle Store. Here?s an excerpt from the KDP website:

It?s free, fast, and easy. Books self-published through KDP can participate in the?70% royalty program?and are available for purchase on Kindle devices and Kindle apps for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, PC, Mac, BlackBerry, and Android-based devices. With KDP, you can self-publish books in many languages ? including English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian ? and specify pricing in US Dollars, Pounds Sterling, and Euros. You will also find useful information on our active community forum.

So, the KDP platform is really the ultimate way to get started with selling your own ebooks. As the excerpt says; ?it?s free, fast, and easy?. Which is absolutely true.

There are two approaches to Kindle publishing. One; creating LOTS of Kindle books by outsourcing their creation and pumping them out by the dozen every month.

Two; carefully writing, outsourcing and managing the creation of an excellent Kindle book. Then doing an actual ?book launch? i.e. marketing the book upon launch. Writing press releases, networking, guest blogging and getting some media attention.

You can do all of that; but unless you know your shit and your Kindle ebook is literally ?physical bookstore quality?; don?t. It?s much easier to pump out a dozen Kindle books per month and outsource the creation of every one.

You could create books about language learning, fishing, internet marketing, pregnancy and women; the only limit is your imagination.

Kindle profits are passive, but nothing spectacular. The profit adds up over time, that?s for sure!

In Prosperity,

David Wood

Syrian government forces pound rebels

ALEPPO, Syria (Reuters) - The government of Bashar al-Assad declared victory on Sunday in a hard-fought battle for Syria's capital Damascus, and pounded rebels who control parts of its largest city Aleppo.

Assad's forces have struggled as never before to maintain their grip on the country over the past two weeks after a major rebel advance into the two largest cities and an explosion that killed four top security officials.

Government forces have succeeded in reimposing their grip on the capital after a punishing battle, but rebels are still in control of sections of Aleppo, clashing with reinforced army troops for several days.

"Today I tell you, Syria is stronger... In less than a week they were defeated (in Damascus) and the battle failed," Foreign Minister Walid Moualem said on a visit to Iran, Assad's main ally in a region where other neighbors have forsaken him.

"So they moved on to Aleppo and I assure you, their plots will fail."

Rebel fighters were clearly in control of parts of Aleppo, where Reuters journalists saw neighborhoods dotted with Free Syrian Army checkpoints flying black and white Islamist banners.

Helicopter gunships hovered over the city shortly after dawn and the thud of artillery boomed across neighborhoods.

Rebel fighters, patrolling opposition districts in flat-bed trucks flying green-white-and-black "independence" flags, said they were holding off Assad's forces in the south-western Aleppo district of Salaheddine, where clashes have gone on for days.

Opposition activists also reported fighting in other rebel-held districts of Aleppo, in what could herald the start of a decisive phase in the battle for Syria's commercial hub, after the army sent tank columns and troop reinforcements last week.

Cars entering one Aleppo district came under fire from snipers and a Reuters photographer saw three bodies lying in the street. Unable to move them to hospital for fear of shelling, residents had placed frozen water bottles on two of the corpses to slow their decomposition in the baking heat.

Other rebel-held areas visited by Reuters were empty of residents. Fighters were basing themselves in houses - some clearly abandoned in a hurry, with food still in the fridges.

A burnt out tank lay in the street, while nearby another one had been captured intact and covered in tarpaulin.

In a largely empty street, flanked by closed shops and run-down buildings, women clad in long black abaya cloaks walked with children next to walls daubed with rebel graffiti - "Freedom", "Free Syrian Army" and "Down with Bashar".

Rubbish lay uncollected. In one street families were packing vans full of mattresses in apparent preparation to flee.

Near the center of town, most shops were shuttered, some with the word "Strike" painted over them. The only shop doing business was a bakery selling subsidized bread, where the queue stretched around the block. Burnt cars could be seen in many streets, some with the word "shabbiha" marked on them - a reference to pro-Assad militiamen.

U.N. Undersecretary-General for humanitarian affairs Valerie Amos said 200,000 people had fled the fighting in and around Aleppo in the last two days, and the violence across Syria made it hard for humanitarian agencies reach them.

"Many people have sought temporary shelter in schools and other public buildings in safer areas. They urgently need food, mattresses and blankets, hygiene supplies and drinking water."

Late on Sunday Syrian state television said soldiers were repelling "terrorists" in Salaheddine and had captured several of their leaders.

"Complete control of Salaheddine has been (won back) from those mercenary gunmen," an unidentified military officer told the television news, saying the gunmen included fighters from Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Turkey and Yemen. "In a few days safety and security will return to the city of Aleppo".

Reuters journalists in the city were not able to reach the district to verify whether rebels had been pushed out. The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human rights said fighting continued in Salaheddine late on Sunday.

KILLING MACHINE

The leader of Syria's main political opposition group, the Syrian National Council, called for foreign allies to provide heavy weapons to fight Assad's "killing machine".

"The rebels are fighting with primitive weapons...We want weapons that we can stop tanks and planes with," SNC chief Abdelbasset Seida said in Abu Dhabi. He urged foreign allies to circumvent the divided U.N. Security Council and intervene.

"Our friends and allies will bear responsibility for what is happening in Aleppo if they do not move soon," he said, adding that talks would start on forming a transitional government.

Arab League head Nabil Elaraby said the battle in Aleppo amounted to "war crimes", and perpetrators would eventually be punished, Egypt's MENA state news agency reported.

The Arab League has suspended Syria and lined up with the West and Turkey against Assad. Assad's government blames Arab states, especially Saudi Arabia and Qatar, for the revolt.

Reuters reported on Friday that Saudi Arabia and Qatar had set up a base in southeastern Turkey to aid the rebels.

A Saudi Foreign Ministry spokesman declined on Sunday to comment directly but said Riyadh gave financial and humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. He also hinted at more direct support, saying countries should enable Syrians "to protect themselves at the very least, if the international community is not able to do so".

Assad's ruling structure draws strongly on his Alawite minority sect, an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam, while his opposition is drawn largely from the Sunni Muslim majority, backed by Sunni leaders who rule nearly all other Arab states.

That has raised fears that the 16-month-old conflict could spread across the wider Middle East, where a sectarian divide between Sunnis and Shi'ites has been at the root of violence in Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain and elsewhere.

Shi'ite Iran demonstrated its firm support for Assad by hosting his foreign minister. At a joint news conference with Moualem, Iran's own Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi rebuked the West and Arab states for holding the "illusion" that Assad could be easily replaced in a managed transition.

CRUCIAL TEST

In Damascus, where Assad's forces have pushed back a rebel offensive since a deadly July 18 bomb attack on his inner circle, many residents have fled fighting in the outskirts for relative safety in the heart of the capital.

In the centre, shops open only between 9 am and 3 pm, food prices have soared and no one dares walk outside after dusk, even in the holy month of Ramadan when streets are normally packed late into the night with people breaking the fast.

"To begin with I was with the regime, for sure," said Ahmed, from one of the southern suburbs where the army, backed by helicopters and tanks, launched its counter-offensive.

"But now, no, the regime must go. Take what they want with them, but they must go."

The battle for Aleppo, a city of 2.5 million people, is a decisive test of the government's ability to retake its two main cities. It has committed huge military resources to the battle there after losing control of outlying rural areas and some border crossings with Turkey and Iraq.

The British-based Observatory said 26 people were killed in Aleppo on Saturday and 190 across Syria. It reported fighting in Deraa, Homs and Hama. There was no way to verify its figures.

The Aleppo fighting follows the July 18 bomb attack, which killed four top security officials including Assad's defense minister, intelligence chief and powerful brother-in-law.

Interior Minister Mohammad al-Shaar, who was wounded in the attack, told state media the assassination had only hardened the authorities' determination to crush the revolt.

"Before this cowardly explosion, we were all working flat out. But now we will exert 10 times the effort to pursue those who threaten the security of our country," Shaar said.

Happy Birthday To Me: 35 Thoughts On Relationships, Self-esteem ...

NAT BAGGAGE RECLAIM 'KEEP LAUGHING'

I?m 35 today and as you can see from the photo, I?m still hanging with my bro in Amsterdam who is reminding me of one of my personal commandments to laugh a lot. Thanks for all of the birthday wishes here and on Facebook and here are just 35 of my many thoughts on life which I hope will help to give some perspective if you?re struggling with an issue.

1. You could blame yourself or try to get someone to change when you realise that your relationship isn?t how you?d like it to be or that they?re not who you thought you were, or you could leave. Someone else?s inadequacies have absolutely nothing to do with you and certainly don?t equate to you having inadequacies that are ?provoking? their inadequacies.

2. Life is one big learning experience and the same lessons will keep coming back at you like Michael Myers in Halloween until you learn the lessons. If you keep experiencing the same or similar, or how you feel about you is the same or even worse over time, whatever you think you?ve learned or you ?know? is not the right takeaway message.

3. You can tell a lot about how someone feels about themselves by their choices. Do your choices say ?I love and trust me a lot? or ?I?m living in fear, I don?t like or love me a lot? or even ?I love you more than I love myself??

4. If a relationship isn?t mutual, it?s not a relationship; it?s a gradual crushing of your spirit and your soul.

5. They?re just not that special and you?re just not that desperate. There is no relationship (romantic or otherwise) in the world that is ?worth? being treated badly, feeling less than, or having to ?win? them over. Take them off their pedestal and tell ?em to take their special fried self elsewhere.

6. Sounds so simple, but doing things that make you unhappy on an ongoing basis will not make you happy. Do more of the things that make you feel good. Do less of the things that give you a short-term high and a medium to longer term side effects.

7. Parents are not infallible and they do eff up. They are not God or a higher power, and if they have failed to be the parent(s) you would have wanted them to be, that has got absolutely nothing to do with your worth as a person and everything to do with them. It?s not ideal but we cannot get our childhoods back and we certainly cannot make friends or people we have romantic relationships with make up the shortfall. Take care of you, nurture you, raise you and teach you whatever you need to learn.

8. Texts are not appropriate means of conducting a relationship as they?re crumb communication. I?m not saying that sending a text is terrible thing ? I?m saying sending a text to get booked in for a shag, to argue, to have a so-called meaningful discussion that you either can?t have because they?re physically unavailable or because you?re trying to dodge conflict is really jacked up. Some people put as much effort into contacting you as they do with ordering a pizza ? make sure you?re not that pizza!

9. Giving to others with a view to what you might ?get back? is not wholehearted giving and they?re actually acts of ?generosity? packaged up with hidden expectations. Give because it?s who you are and what you?d do anyway, not because you think that it will eventually create a tipping point and make them be the person you want or generate back the same level of giving.

10. Affairs are like an exorcism for the Other Woman/Man ? it will drag out every ugly thought and feeling and bring all of your deep seated issues including abandonment and second best issues to the surface. If you?re involved in an affair, recognise that you?ve hit a low with your self-esteem and see this as an opportunity to resolve your issues instead of carting them around. And get out.

11. Others know the line with you when you know the line. Nobody else is going to set your boundaries for you especially when you?re actually crossing your own line anyway.

12. We trust those who share similar core values to us, hence if something feels ?off? or you can?t put your finger on what it is you don?t trust (and you know it?s not solely down to your insecurity), it?s because there is a conflict on one or more of your fundamental values.

13. Not everything is about you. You?ll find that the amount of drama in your life reduces significantly when you reduce the amount of drama in your own mind and actions. Not everything is important ? learn to pick and choose your battles, not because you?re letting things slide but because not everything is about you or having the last word.

14. Often the things that we put off, take a shockingly shorter amount of time to do or are not the earth shattering, sky is falling things we feared them to be. Procrastination takes a lot more energy and saps your mojo and even your self-esteem.

15. Until you get to know someone, what you love is an image in your mind. It?s great if they end up living up to or even exceeding this image, but if they don?t, you have no choice but to join them back on earth. And you can?t be mad at them for not living up to your imagination ? it?s your imagination.

16. All breakups, not just those that are the result of an unhealthy relationship, require some space. It is healthy and normal. You?re not going to process a breakup if you try to carry on as normal, are hanging off their coat tails or having sex with them.

17. If you wouldn?t give over your worldly possessions or put someone on your lease or add them to your mortgage a hot minute or month after meeting them, I certainly wouldn?t hand over your self-esteem and claim that you ?know? and trust them either.

18. Unless you?re extremely stubborn, it?s highly unlikely that as you?re getting ready to draw your last breath that you?re going to think ?Jaysus, I wish I?d tried harder to win over Mr/Miss Unavailable? but it may suddenly occur to you that there were better things to do with your life.

19. It doesn?t really matter what you say, if you don?t back it up with the actions that matter. Don?t tell me who you are, show me who you are and if the actions and the words don?t match, you?ve got problems.

20. Being a People Pleasing Chameleon is a waste of time. Yeah some people will appreciate the fringe benefits of you rolling yourself out into a doormat but ultimately when you actively try to get people to like you in subtle and not so subtle ways, it actually comes across as disingenuous, plus you won?t like you either.

21. If you don?t understand why something didn?t work and are not in the process of adapting the behaviour and thinking that contributed, what is to stop you from winding up in the same situation again?

22. There?s no point in saying ?I?m not the kind of guy/girl who does X? while doing just that. The ?innocent bystander? attitude of claiming honesty while being with someone who is dishonest doesn?t wash either.

23. There?s no such thing as having the last word; the last word is ACTION. The ?last word? is only a one-way verbal or written statement and it?s only final for you. The other person might be thinking ?Blah blah blah? or ?Are they on crack??

24. Great sex with someone who treats you in a less than favourable manner is like doing crack ? yeah it?ll feel good when you?re on the high having sex but the effects of chasing that high and selling yourself short will gradually destroy you. Don?t objectify yourself.

25. Friendship like all relationships should be mutual but they are still organic not forced. This means that if you?re ?supposed? to be friends with your ex it won?t be because you did the equivalent of showing up on their doorstep like a nuisance salesperson.

26. It?s very easy to focus on others and judge their lives and their actions and to even tell them about themselves and make it your duty to show them the ?right? way, but it?s all a distraction from yourself. It?s not that there aren?t things that others couldn?t do with changing, but what you really need to be asking is why you?re so caught up in this when you could be getting on with your own life?

27. Any situation that you?re compaining about yet it?s still continuing, it?s because it?s ?working? for you ? a ?payoff?. Identifying what that is as well as the false economy in your actions and thinking will put you in the position to do something.

28. Intelligence is wonderful but don?t let it blind you and don?t think that you don?t have to try in other areas. It doesn?t mean that you?re emotionally intelligent or relationship smart nor does it mean that if you meet someone with a level of intelligence you respect or even admire, that they?ll possess other qualities you desire and share your values. Some people are also very intelligent at assholic behaviour. Oh and if you were with someone ?less intelligent?, just like if you were with someone ?less attractive? it wouldn?t do anything to your own intelligence or attractiveness.

29. Be very wary of trusting those who chat about others behind their backs or do mean things because you might feel that you?re exempt from this treatment, but they?re likely talking about you too and one day you?ll be in the firing line.

30. It doesn?t matter what story you?re told about why someone is having an affair ? their partner is a person with their own feelings and yes, flaws, just like you. I?m not saying that they?re perfect but if you regard them as a human being with a name, feelings, expectations, and possibly having once possessed the same faith you have in your lover, you might not be so quick to judge or to play the third wheel.

31. Life is for living and if you?re not living and loving because you?re too busy being afraid and investing yourself in people and situations that detract from you, you?re definitely not using your opportunity to fulfil your purpose.

32. Casual relationships (an oxymoron in themselves as nobody likes being treated and regarded casually) are an attempt to do a backdoor route to a relationship in the hope of wooing them into ?upgrading? you. You are not a credit card with an introductory interest free period.

33. Many people strive to be the perfect version of ?good enough? which is basically seeking perfection. Life is about learning and growing as we go along, like on-the-job training. There?s no destination, there?s no critical mass of ?stuff? that we acquire or praise that?s heaped upon us. You?ve got the ?job? already ? embrace it!

34. Accept you as you are, realise that this is where you have to live (in your skin) until your time is up and take yourself out there and shine.

35. Blame, shame, and guilt are wasted emotions ? there isn?t much you can do with them. You don?t have to let past experiences define you and your future. I could have made a permanent judgement about myself but where the hell would that have got me? You can change your life. Your story isn?t ?written? ? you can do a rewrite.

Analysis: Draghi raises market hopes ECB may not want to meet

LONDON (Reuters) - Mario Draghi has set a high bar by declaring that his European Central Bank will do whatever it takes within its mandate to preserve the euro.

At the very least, financial markets expect the ECB to overcome the Bundesbank's reservations and resume its Securities Markets Programme (SMP), which it last deployed to buy government bonds in the open market nearly five months ago.

A flavor of what would happen if the central bank did anything less came on Friday, when the euro, European shares and Spanish and Italian bond prices all fell after the Bundesbank reiterated its past criticism of this bond purchase programme.

The ECB will have to be far more aggressive than in the past to win more than a fleeting breathing space for Spain and Italy, whose borrowing costs have surged and whose bailout needs would be too big to be covered by current funds.

To buy politicians enough time to resolve a crisis that poses a growing threat to the euro zone, the central bank needs to purchase as many Spanish and Italian bonds as it takes to convince investors to do the same.

Central banks in the United States, Japan and Britain have already deployed "quantitative easing" (QE) programs, which involve buying large quantities of government bonds or other assets to prod economic activity. That would be controversial for the ECB, which is barred by European law from using its balance sheet to finance government spending.

The ECB's bond buying has so far been different from QE because the bank removes as much money from the financial system as it puts in, a process known as sterilization. Some experts say that to be effective the ECB would have to adopt tactics more closely resembling the full-blown QE seen elsewhere.

"What would really work is for the ECB to make an unlimited and credible promise to spend as much money as needed, to declare caps on bond yield spreads or actual yields, and to give Europe's rescue funds more leverage," said Carsten Brzeski, senior economist at ING in Brussels.

"Unlimited use of the SMP is quantitative easing in my view, but this is all hypothetical. Just the idea would give them stomach pains and it is unlikely to happen. Even if they were willing to do it, there are legal and practical considerations which mean they won't."

STOP THE ROT

There may be divisions within the ECB over how to tackle the crisis but it is viewed by markets as the only institution that can move quickly and effectively enough to halt a rot which is being transmitted across the euro zone via the bond market.

The infection has reached Spain, which is seen as struggling to finance itself for much longer if its 10-year bond yields stay near euro-era highs of 7.78 percent seen this week.

That was a premium of nearly 6.5 percentage points over German bond yields and surpassed 10-year yields on bonds issued by Ireland, which has already taken a bailout.

Moreover, Italy, the euro zone's third biggest economy, is also being sucked into the crisis.

Firing up the ECB's existing bond buying programme would be a start. Even that could annoy Germany's Bundesbank, which is particularly vigilant in opposing suggestions that central bank policy be used to finance countries' spending.

The ECB has bought 211.5 billion euros worth of bonds in total since it started its SMP programme in May 2010. Its biggest weekly spend was 22 billion euros back in August 2011 but it has barely deployed the programme this year.

But while those purchases managed to slow the rise in yields of highly-indebted euro zone countries, they weren't enough to turn the tide then and won't be enough now, analysts said.

"Draghi is putting his personal credibility on the line so my best belief is that if they come in, they won't do it half-heartedly," said Erik Nielsen, global chief economist at UniCredit.

"The reason the SMP did not work in the past was that it was done too timidly and was leaning against the wind amid all the noise from the Bundesbank. It is not clear what it will take to drive (bond yield) spreads down to levels they would consider acceptable but it is certainly not what they did before."

The central bank would therefore have to use new tactics to have any lasting impact and live up to Draghi's promise.

"Full-on QE is the one thing that would make a massive difference and which would be a game changer - nothing else would make a difference at the present time," said Mark Schofield, global head of interest rate strategy at Citi.

"Data has really deteriorated, both in terms of growth in the core and the periphery, and inflation expectations have come off. I think the comments (by Draghi) suggest that the thought of QE will have crossed their minds, even though we might not see it anytime soon."

Financial market analysts say the ECB won't want to act unless it believes governments are doing their homework.

The central bank has always insisted on the need for countries to meet budget promises they make to their euro zone partners and the importance of root and branch reforms that will play a long-term role in helping growth and reducing deficits.

And whatever it does, the ECB will only buy time for governments to address the underlying fiscal problems.

"The ECB's intervention policy has tended to be conditional, so as long as European governments are taking steps they will intervene," Steven Major, global head of fixed income research at HSBC, said.

"Markets are very binary and have struggled to recognize that there is no silver bullet."

Five reasons why buying a home is still a good idea - Maurice Frazier

(ARA) - A still murky economy and uncertain real estate market may have you wondering if buying a home is a good idea. Whether you're thinking about buying, or already have and just need some affirmation, you may find it comforting to know there are still plenty of good reasons for financially stable people to buy a house. Here are a few:

* Homeownership can help make good credit even better. If your credit is in poor shape, you'll want to monitor it before seeking a mortgage. But if you have good credit, live within your means, and consistently make good financial decisions, a mortgage can be the kind of "good debt" that helps your overall financial health. Making regular payments on a mortgage shows potential lenders that you're a less risky candidate for a home loan. Before you begin home shopping, it's a good idea to check your credit. Enrolling in a product like freecreditscore.com can help you better understand and leverage your credit.

* A mortgage can function like an automatic savings plan. By now, you've read the news reports about how little we Americans save these days. Well, every year you pay on your fixed-rate mortgage, is a year of building equity, and equity is like money in the bank. When it's time to sell - whether you've stayed in your home seven years or the full 30 year term - you'll have created equity and should be able to sell your house for more than you owe.

* Homeownership comes with plenty of financial perks, including an income tax credit for property taxes you pay on your home. For detailed information on tax breaks check out IRS.gov. Buying a home also affords you the opportunity to halt your housing costs. Rent will always go up from year to year, but if you have a fixed-rate mortgage (avoid adjustable rates) your biggest annual expense - housing costs - will be locked-in.

* Mortgage interest is a good deal when stacked up against other types of interest that don't do much for you - such as high credit card interest rates or low rates on savings accounts and CDs. Mortgage rates are low right now, meaning you can pay less over the life of a loan than at practically any other time in recent history. Plus, it's the only kind of interest that you can deduct from your taxes.

* Prices are still relatively low and inventory is high. It's been a buyer's market for a long time, but that's going to change. The question is: when will the market start to improve in your area, taking home prices with it? You'll have to do some legwork and astute research to determine when is the best time for you to buy.

If you monitor your credit and are on a sound financial footing, buying a home can still be a good idea. And now is as good a time as any to make your purchase.

Facebook's stock tumbles after 1st public quarter

This June 20, 2012 photo shows a Facebook login page on a computer screen in Oakland, N.J. Facebook is expected to report their quarterly financial results after the market closes on Thursday, July 26, 2012. (AP Photo/Stace Maude)

(AP) ? Facebook's first earnings report as a public company had solid numbers, but in the end it landed with a thud ? much like its rocky initial public offering two months ago.

Facebook reported stronger-than-expected revenue and a gain in user numbers Thursday. But investors weren't impressed and after a brief spike, its stock fell more than 10 percent, or $2.74, to $24.10 in after-hours trading. The decline means Facebook's stock will most likely open at its lowest level since going public.

It's another big disappointment for the Harvard-born company that was supposed to usher in the next Internet boom.

"They didn't break any banks," said Debra Aho Williamson, an analyst at research firm eMarketer. "They did not come out any better than anybody had expected."

What may have rattled investors is that Facebook's revenue growth has slowed. Between 2009 to 2010, the company's revenue nearly tripled. In the first quarter of this year, revenue climbed 44 percent. In the second quarter, Facebook Inc.'s revenue increased 32 percent to $1.18 billion from $895 million a year earlier. Analysts, on average had expected slightly lower revenue of $1.16 billion, according to FactSet.

For a freshly public company such as Facebook, the decelerating revenue growth is a concern. A bet on fast-growing revenue is the reason investors are willing to value new companies highly even if they are not making a profit. Another reason jittery investors may be even more nervous: Facebook didn't offer investors and financial analysts its outlook for the rest of the year.

Meanwhile, the number of people who access Facebook regularly inched closer to 1 billion. The company said it had 955 million active monthly users as of June 30, up 29 percent from a year earlier. At the end of the first quarter, it had 901 million users.

Overall the Menlo Park, Calif.-based company posted a loss of $157 million, or 8 cents per share in the April-June period, mainly due to compensation expenses it incurred when it paid $1.3 billion in restricted stock and related taxes for employees as part of the IPO. The loss compared with earnings of $240 million, or 11 cents per share, in the second quarter a year ago. The company's adjusted earnings of $295 million, or 12 cents per share, matched Wall Street's expectations.

The results come two months after Facebook's stock flopped on its first trading day, on May 18. The day began with glitches with the Nasdaq stock market that delayed trading by half an hour. It didn't get much better from there. Despite months of hoopla that had investors thinking it would soar, the stock closed just 23 cents above its $38 IPO price. It has not reached that level since.

Though Facebook had a lot riding on its first public report, Wall Street's outlook was muted, which could be another reason for the stock's decline.

"People are waiting for a really huge growth moment in revenue, advertising, dollars per user," said Alex Ashby, research analyst at Global X Funds, a provider of a social media exchange-traded fund. "People had expected that Facebook is going to revolutionize advertising...we think it's still a definite possibility, but maybe further down the road."

Investors were holding out hope that Facebook would far exceed expectations ?even though the company effectively warned investors before its IPO that Wall Street's expectations were too high. In a filing issued a week before its IPO, for instance, Facebook said its mobile users are growing at a faster pace than the number of ads on its mobile platform.

Analysts took that as a sign that their estimates were out of whack and many of them reduced their estimates for Facebook's projected revenue and earnings.

Even though the number of people who use mobile devices and tablet computers to access Facebook had been growing fast, Facebook didn't start showing ads on its mobile app until this spring. Facebook had 543 million active monthly mobile users at the end of the quarter, a 67 percent increase from a year earlier.

In a conference call with analysts, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Facebook's mobile users are more active than those who use the personal computer version.

"On average mobile users are around 20 percent more likely to use Facebook on any given day," he said. "So mobile not only gives us the potential to connect more people with our services and also gives us the ability to provide more value and more deeply engaging experience."

Facebook said its revenue from advertising totaled $992 million, a 28 percent increase from the same quarter last year. That number accounted for 84 percent of total revenue. The company did not say what portion was from mobile advertising. The rest came from payments and other fees, money Facebook makes from Zynga games and other apps.

AIG launches YouTube campaign as part of rebranding

(Reuters) - American International Group is continuing its rebranding with a YouTube channel, part of the insurer's effort to shed the stigma of its 2008 government rescue and essentially reintroduce itself to the public.

AIG was on the brink of bankruptcy when it was saved by the government in September 2008. Its $182-billion rescue tarnished the image of what had been the world's largest insurer, and it has been trying to rebuild its name since.

Last month, the company said it would resume the use of the "AIG" brand for its various insurance businesses, reversing a decision taken in the early days of the crisis when the name inspired public derision.

The YouTube channel appears to be part of that effort. Though the channel appears to have been set up last month, the company began actively promoting it on its Twitter feed on Thursday, alongside the hashtag "#proud2beAIG".

There are three video sections, each with three clips: "Rebuilding AIG," "Proud to Be a Part of AIG" and "Giving Back to the Community."

All of the content is geared toward both humanizing the company and making the case for its recovery.

"We'd like to tell you a story about an American corporation working to keep a promise it made to the U.S. Government and American taxpayers," reads the title cards that play at the beginning of the first two-and-a-half minute video, an animated effort with a timeline of the bailout.

The second video features Chief Executive Bob Benmosche, who is widely credited with stopping the company's fire-sale breakup after the bailout and leading the company's recovery, as well as a number of other employees.

The page also links to the restructuring factsheet on AIG's website and displays the company's Twitter feed.

As of midday Thursday, the channel had just 44 subscribers, with the videos having been viewed just over 2,100 times.

An AIG spokesman confirmed the YouTube campaign was a new effort.

Writing A Niche News Blog For Profit | PyaarDosti.com | A Blog ...

What is this great publishing industry generally speaking is not an easy that you get into. Firstly you will find the fact that there are already many really, very big avid gamers who are very well recognized in the market. And I?m not just talking about big on the web Mark Nordlicht for example the Huffington Post, but big multi-national media corporations having newspapers, television channels and all of the rest. So facing it you might think a small independent publisher has absolutely no chance of making any in highways whatsoever into forex. But that is not necessarily the case. There is still room for those small independent publishers if you find a fantastic niche and targeted it well.

And since reports is such a broad religious organization there are plenty of potential niche markets which a new article writer or publisher can choose. This could indicate writing about a particular type of news which you realize a lot about, including, for example, publishing marketplace news. Or it could possibly mean writing about the top events of the day from your particular perspective ? and if you are doing that and there is a truly novel perspective to offer people then you could even forge your individual niche ? a completely fresh niche created by you actually if you are taking this subsequent route.
If you are contemplating setting up and managing this kind of site then probably the most important thing is basically that you really must cover each of the big issues which can be relevant to your area of interest. People just would not keep coming back to your site in the numbers that you?ll want to see if you will discover big holes inside your coverage ? even if the publishing which you do submit is super excellent and super beneficial and entertaining.
One particular solution to this, a high level lone writer , nor feel that you have the the perfect time to cover absolutely anything yourself, is to employ freelance writers. There are plenty of sites where you can hire freelancers pretty cheaply on the internet, although you will have to take care to pick the right people otherwise you may end up with substandard quality work. If you do not need to pay out the money for other writers after that another solution is to publish short summaries of a narrative and then provide back links to further information. Ten or fifteen minutes may be what is needed to do a little bit of exploration, pull together the main facts of the news story in question, and one as well as two quality posts to recommend. Of course you can also solicit additions from your readers, that is not always a reliable method of obtaining content.
But the main thing is that you ought to appear unique in the first place. That means you must placed across an unique feature about your site from the design, layout, subject and title, and not merely rely an unique way with words for the articles their selves.
Another important point the item that Mark Nordlicht is very time delicate. What I mean by that is the fact when a news story smashes it pays off big time to publish something as soon as possible. And you can even head out further than that. Knowing your niche well you can publish stories having rumours of what may happen or predictions of your, and that way you will already have relevant content about any given history even before it smashes ? which will give you a big boost when it comes to traffic generation for the story in advance of bigger sites exactly who cover a much wider range of topics and will therefore not have your niche expertise to view the story coming.

Where To Begin Internet Marketing For Beginners - Online Mentor ...

Where to begin Internet marketing for the beginner will only include a few simple platforms. While many might believe this will be complicated and far too time consuming, they could not be any further from the truth.

Getting started with Internet marketing for any newbie can be somewhat frustrating. There are so many people online today, guru or not, telling you what is the best way to generate traffic that you can get lost in a hurry.

There are also those who are screaming in your face about how to create content, sales copy and sales funnels to build that all important list. Here we will forget the hyperbole of magic words, software and other wishful thinking that usually comes with most offers out here and get into the facts that are both practiced, and proved.

Marketing online is simple, all kidding aside, it is easy to learn and implement if you have the right information, tools and gumption to use them. This is where most people fail, having and keeping the gumption. There will be no success without perseverance.

Jumping in without any idea of what you may not be the biggest mistake, but one that will definitely have you sick and tired of the whole ?online thing? in no time. Your best bet is too learn first, then choose what platforms and tools best suit your business needs first.

As a beginner to Internet marketing and building your business and brand online, there are only a few platforms you will have to partake in and understand. These will include blogging, search engine optimization, video marketing, sales funnel and some social media.

While there are all kinds of hype online abut the best Internet marketing traffic driving software, these few simple platforms have proved the best time and time again. Of course not all the software is horrible and all the guru services, but they are not as needed as they portray.

Having a centralized home (presence) online like a blog is a must today. Without blogging, article marketing can be a scary proposition if that is the only way for you to share information about your products, services or opportunities.

WordPress, especially a self hosted blog with WordPress, is the best platform for any beginner to Internet marketing. This simple content management system is easy to learn and is probably, next to video, the best place to build content that converts.

Search Engine Optimization, what do you say? I know this and so will you, it is not as a confusing or complicated to learn than it sounds. Learning keyword research and how to use these words and phrases properly to gain better ranking for your content is easy, even I can do it.

This strategy is most important however. Even if you write and create a great video, without understanding how important titles, anchor text and latent Semantic Indexing are, you could be creating content that shows up on page 100 of a search, and that will never be seen.

Video marketing is not just for goofy kids and home videos any more. Video is becoming the number one platform online for information consumption. With this platform becoming so important, learning some simple strategies to better your chance of ranking with them is a must.

Adding multimedia like video to your blogging efforts should be a must. Sharing each video with your social profiles should also be a must to practice. Most people however, seem to get nervous when it comes to this particular marketing platform and strategy. I say, ?get over it and do it!?

Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn and Twitter, ever heard of them? Of course. Social Media Marketing and learning SMO (Social Media Optimization) is becoming not only a must as well, but a serious metric for search engines and ranking factors today.

It is not enough to have a killer Facebook page, as a matter of fact, having a cool looking page means nothing to most people. What does matter however, is the fact that you are engaged within your community and those wanting to learn more about YOU.internet marketing

Social media engagement is fast becoming a measurement for determining good content by looking at the brand itself. What I mean is this; when sharing your content like a blog post or video, this should also follow up with some engagement when posting it to your social profiles.

Sales funnels and e-mail marketing is basically just follow through. This is where you will follow through converting the traffic you see by creating first a reason to ?learn more? from you. This is followed by giving them the information and reason to partake in what you have to offer.

Internet Marketing Made Easy

There is a learning curve for any beginner to Internet marketing, just like any other new thing you decide to try. This is easy though, not kidding. For those looking to generate a better brand for their local business, affiliate products or network marketing opportunities, there is no better ROI when it comes to a little time invested than marketing online.

If you believe this outlet for building a brand and business online, you are very, very WRONG. Where to begin is by creating a solid ?presence? online (i.e. blog and social media profiles). After that, it is all about creating the kind of content that people want to take a few minutes to know more about, that?s all there is to success online.

What every Australian should know about skin cancer | Ego ...

The statistics in this article take your breath away. It reinforces that we cannot be complacent about our skin and skin protection.
Slip, Slop, Slap people!

?

Up to 50% of Australians Will Get Skin Cancer
With our enviable climate and fantastic beaches it?s little wonder that Australians have an entrenched outdoor culture.

However, our love of the great outdoors is a double-edged sword. We have the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, and it?s also the most common form of cancer in Australia.

Long-term exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun damages the genetic material in our skin, leading to skin cancer. Living up to the myth of the ?bronzed Aussie?
is a major health risk. There is no safe way to tan.

Many Hundreds of Australians Need Not Die Every Year
Over 200,000 Australians are treated for skin cancer each year. It kills more than 1,000 Australians every year, and many of these deaths are preventable. Melanoma is a deadly skin cancer if not treated early, and accounts for about
70% of these annual deaths. The remaining 30% of deaths result from the more common types of skin cancer, when they have grown too large and/or have spread throughout the body.

What Causes the Development of Skin Cancer?
Fair-skinned Australians are in the highest risk group of developing skin cancers, but Australians with olive complexions are certainly not immune to the problem.

Exposure to sunlight in childhood and adolescence is a major factor in causing skin cancers. A history of severe sunburn increases the risk of developing melanoma, and persistent moderate long-term sun exposure increases the risks of both non-melanoma skin cancers and melanoma.

Now the Good News: Skin Cancer Can be Detected Early
Because it is highly visible, skin cancer is generally detectable at an early stage. This, followed by prompt treatment, leads to a greater chance of cure. Early detection is particularly important for malignant melanoma.

But it must be diagnosed early. The first step is self-monitoring. If you have an at-risk type skin (fair-skinned, freckles, a large number of moles) or have a history of skin cancer, make sure you check your skin regularly: every three months ? for example, at the beginning of every season.
